A Driver’s licence issued under the corresponding provisions of any law in force in any other country may be recognized for conversion into a Ghanaian driver’s licence under such conditions as may be prescribed by the DVLA from time to time.


Applicant must;

  • Be present.
  • Present an original and photocopy of valid foreign driver's licence.
  • Present a valid Residence Permit. (should not be less than 3 months to expiry).
  • Present an Introduction Letter from employer or dependent in Ghana.
  • Present valid Non-citizenship card (foreign nationals only).
  • Present Authentication of the foreign licence either from the issuing Authority (Official driving records) or Consulate.
  • Present a translation of all documents in any other language other than English into English. Translation must come from the Ghana Institute of languages, the Consulate of the licence holder, any state University or Alliance Française d'Accra.



All applicants will be required to;

·         Obtain approval for conversion from the Head Office. Alternatively, applicants can submit all documents to the nearest DVLA for the approval to be requested on their behalf.

·         Pay the prescribed fees, obtain and fill the required forms.

·         Undertake Road Signs and Road Markings Test (if necessary)

·         Obtain temporary licence.

·         Collect licence on a scheduled date.
