The
Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has embarked on a working
visit to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to engage with its
leadership and familiarize himself with operations at the Authority. During the
visit to the Authority’s Head Office, the Minister met with the Chief Executive
and Management team to discuss ongoing initiatives and strategies aimed at
improving service delivery.
As
part of the visit, the Minister touched on key national transport issues,
including the regularization of commercial motorcycle operations, popularly

he said, marked the beginning of a series of engagements aimed at advancing the
government's transport sector agenda.
“This
is our first working visit and today’s meeting sets the foundation for our
objectives. The Government intends to regularise the commercialisation of
Okada. If properly regulated, it will provide a safe and efficient means of
transportation, allowing people to enjoy a smoother journey to work”, he said.
Noting that with the right training and monitoring, Okada operations can
contribute significantly to productivity in the long run.

revenues are collected and must strive to make a positive impact wherever we
serve,” He stated.
He called for total support to the Chief
Executive, saying that with the right backing, the economy could thrive. “If we
provide our Chief Executive with the necessary support, we can sustain economic
activity and growth. It is the President’s vision to ensure safer roads, as
Ghana is the gateway to Africa. Both the Ministry and the Presidency are fully
committed to supporting this initiative.”
