The
Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially commissioned its
new state-of-the-art office in Adentan, marking a major milestone in the
Authority’s commitment to improving public service delivery and supporting
government’s 24-hour economy agenda.
Located
at the GAPTE (Ayalolo) Head Office at Ritz Junction on the Ashaley Botwe Road
(GPS Address GD-023-2181), the new DVLA office will operate 24 hours a day,
offering round-the-clock services to the motoring public. The Adentan branch is
set to provide all core DVLA services, including driver licensing, vehicle
registration, compliance enforcement, vehicle inspections, and driver testing.
At
the commissioning ceremony, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration,
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, emphasised government’s commitment to transforming public
service institutions under the President’s reset agenda. “We
are resetting, and everyone should get involved in the resetting motion of the
President,” she said, noting that the changes at DVLA were part of a broader
national transformation to which the President would continually account.
The Minister for Transport of the Republic, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, commended DVLA for aligning with government’s vision. He expressed confidence that the decentralization and 24-hour service model would significantly reduce the time citizens spend to access essential services during productive hours. “The operationalization of this 24-hour service will ensure greater accessibility and convenience for the public,” he stated.
The Chief Executive of DVLA, Mr. Julius
Neequaye Kotey, noted that upon assuming office, he initiated a 24-hour shift
system at the Authority’s Print Farm to clear backlogs of licences. “We are
making remarkable progress in resolving this,” he reported.
Mr.
Kotey reaffirmed DVLA’s dedication to supporting the 24-hour economy and
announced that the 24-hour model would be extended across the Authority’s
nationwide network. He said the Authority will also open DVLA offices at some
embassies, while highlighting DVLA’s readiness to support the regulation and
licensing of Okada operations in line with emerging transport trends.
“The
Adenta office he said, was more than a service centre; it is a symbol of DVLA’s
transformation and our commitment to excellence,” Mr. Kotey added.
