The Driver and Vehicle Licensing
Authority (DVLA) and the Chief Executive, Mr. Julius
Neequaye Kotey, has
won four prestigious awards at the Africa Governments Summit and Public
Sector Innovation Awards 2026
held last Thursday at the Accra Marriott Hotel.
Mr. Kotey received the Public Service Personality of the Year Award and the Outstanding CEO in State-Owned Enterprises Award, while DVLA received the Public Sector Service Delivery Innovation Excellence Award and the Innovation and Digital Transformation in Public Enterprise Award. The awards highlight the forward-looking transformation the Authority has experienced in recent times under the leadership of Mr. Kotey. They also reinforce the importance of transformational leadership driven by motivation, collaboration and service.
The recognitions further serve as encouragement to the Management and staff of the Authority to continue working diligently toward delivering efficient and excellent services to the Ghanaian public. DVLA’s Ultra Service Centres earned the Public Sector Service Delivery Innovation Excellence Award. These centres were established to enhance service delivery through strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) by reducing processing times and eliminating the need for intermediaries. Services provided at the centres include driver’s licence applications, renewals and vehicle registration. In addition, the Authority received the Innovation and Digital Transformation in Public Enterprise Award, which recognises institutions that have successfully implemented technological solutions to improve service delivery.
Over the past year, DVLA has introduced several initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and accessibility of its services, making licensing and vehicle registration more convenient for the public. The summit, held under the theme “Driving Institutional Excellence and Public Sector Transformation across Africa,” provided a platform for stakeholders to share ideas and strategies on transformational innovations that serve as catalysts for public sector excellence.
The awards ceremony brought together
public sector institutions, private sector organisations and individuals to
celebrate outstanding achievements in service delivery across Ghana.
